Board Director, CNIB Deafblind Community Services
CNIB Deafblind Community Services (DBCS) is Canada’s leading provider of specialized services supporting people who are Deafblind to live with independence, dignity, and full community participation. Operating across Ontario, Saskatchewan and British Columbia with plans to expand nationally, DBCS delivers person‑centred, flexible supports tailored to the unique communication and daily living needs of individuals who are Deafblind. Through a continuum of community‑based services, including intervenor supports, independent living assistance, and technology‑enabled solutions, DBCS works in close partnership with individuals, families, caregivers, and community stakeholders. The program is grounded in respect for autonomy, informed choice, and the recognition that people who are Deafblind are experts in their own lives.
The Board Director will champion CNIB Deafblind Community Services’ (DBCS) mission and values: To provide individualized support directed by Canadians who are Deafblind to strengthen their independence and engagement with the world around them. The Board Director will provide strategic oversight to DBCS to look toward the future, seek to grow our geographic reach and impact, all while leading the development of global professional intervenor standards – helping to secure a better future for the Deafblind Community. The Board Director will have a personal connection and/or a commitment to the success of Deafblind Community Services, and the Canadians that we serve.
CNIB Deafblind Community Services (DBCS) is seeking Board Directors who will contribute to the organization’s continued evolution from a delivery-focused board to a future-focused, strategic governance body. Candidates will bring a strong commitment to the mission, and a desire to help shape the next phase of growth and impact.
