Chief Executive Officer Alberta iGaming Corporation

Edmonton, AB

With the introduction and passage of Bill 48, the iGaming Alberta Act, the province has established the legal framework for a competitive, innovative, and socially responsible digital gaming ecosystem. The launch of Alberta’s private, regulated iGaming market will make it the second Canadian province to permit private iGaming operators to participate in a controlled iGaming environment. A newly created Crown corporation, the Alberta iGaming Corporation (AiGC), will be responsible for conducting and managing the market as well as contracting with private iGaming operators. By establishing the organizational structure and setting key provisions and requirements, the iGaming Alberta Act positions Alberta to create an open, commercial, and regulated iGaming market, and to become a global leader in the iGaming industry.

The creation of AiGC presents a unique opportunity for an experienced executive to establish and lead a new Crown corporation at a pivotal moment in the province’s gaming industry. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will guide the launch of Alberta’s private iGaming market and position the province as a leader in the digital gaming sector. Responsible for setting strategic direction, building the leadership team and operational structure, and creating partnerships with private operators, the CEO will ensure the market’s long-term sustainability. The CEO will help shape a modern, competitive, and socially responsible market that balances commercial growth with the highest standards of integrity, consumer protection, and social responsibility. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to lead a newly formed Crown corporation at the intersection of public policy, digital innovation, and private-sector engagement.

The CEO will serve as an ex officio member of the Board of Directors and its committees, supporting governance functions and contributing actively to committee work, while also providing advice to senior government officials on iGaming in Alberta and broader gaming matters.

The ideal candidate is a visionary and execution-focused executive with a proven track record in building organizations, navigating complex stakeholder environments, and driving innovation in regulated industries. You bring deep expertise in public sector governance, partnership development, and financial stewardship, ideally with an understanding or knowledge of gaming, digital platforms, or consumer-facing technologies. Strong leadership, strategic planning, and stakeholder management skills are essential, along with a commitment to social responsibility and understanding of legal requirements and regulatory compliance in the iGaming sector. Experience in promoting consumer protection, developing and implementing regulatory policies, and applying rigorous risk management frameworks to safeguard reputation and market integrity will be critical. Previous CEO or senior leadership experience within a growing organization will be highly valued.
