Head, Communications, Canadian Development Investment Corporation (CDEV)

Toronto or Ottawa, Ontario

Hybrid

Canada Development Investment Corporation (CDEV) advances economic prosperity for Canada by delivering financial and commercial expertise to the Government of Canada. A self-sustaining Crown corporation since 1982, CDEV is the federal government’s trusted advisor and active asset manager of more than $75B in strategic assets, operating at arm’s length and at the speed of business.

This is a unique opportunity to lead the full communications mandate for one of Canada’s most impactful Crown corporations. As Head of Communications, you will shape and steward the narrative of CDEV and its Group of Companies at a time of continued growth, heightened public visibility, and expanding program delivery on behalf of the Government of Canada. This role offers the chance to design and implement an enterprise-wide communications strategy that influences how Canadians, stakeholders, partners, and government officials understand CDEV’s impact as a trusted steward of public assets and priorities. Unlike traditional corporate communications roles, this mandate spans multi-entity governance, media relations, issues management, internal communications, and brand and digital strategy, all in a complex public policy environment. It is an opportunity to bring clarity, cohesion, and strategic alignment to how CDEV communicates its mission, reinforces trust, manages reputation, and advances federal priorities across a diverse and evolving portfolio.

As the ideal candidate, you are an enterprise-level communications strategist with deep experience shaping clear, cohesive, and impactful communications across complex organizations. You bring a strong track record in building and leading communications functions, with strengths in reputation management, media relations, narrative development, and issues and crisis communications. You are a trusted advisor to executives and Boards, able to translate complex organizational priorities into clear and compelling messages. You operate comfortably in multi entity environments, ensuring alignment of voice, brand, and messaging across diverse teams and subsidiaries. A builder of high performing teams, you pair exceptional communication skills with strong judgment and the ability to balance strategic vision with hands on execution. Above all, you help organizations articulate their purpose, strengthen their voice, and communicate with clarity, consistency, and integrity.

The role may be based in either Toronto or Ottawa and requires fluency in both official languages.
